About the Artist

Travis PetersonThe artist and owner, Travis Peterson, born and raised in Eastern Washington along the Columbia River, took his first trip to Alaska at 12 years of age, to fish the Situk River with his father. It was his ambition after that to return permanently. After Travis earned a Fish and Wildlife Degree in Natural Resources from Spokane Community College, he moved to Alaska, and has lived in this beautiful state since 1995. Initially working in SE Alaska as a Fish Culturist for NSRAA, and later SSRAA, he realized his artistic side, and started studying and producing fish taxidermy on the side. Wanting to learn from the best, he studied under Rick Krane at Anglers Artistry Academy of Taxidermy Excellence in New Hampshire. Travis learned many things from Rick Krane, but one teaching he stated will never leave his mind, "Rick has told me over and over that my best teacher is the fish itself".

After having seen and studied millions of fish, Travis continues to study to achieve excellence. He has fished throughout the state of Alaska, lower 48, and around the world in pursuit of knowledge, as well as pleasure.

"My family and I have recently moved to beautiful Prince of Wales Island to pursue the dream, and open Off The Hook Taxidermy. I strive in producing the best fish taxidermy you can find in Alaska; capable of working with freshwater, saltwater, cold, and warm water fish. Whether you catch your fish here in Alaska, the tropics, or anywhere in the world, if it comes from the water, I can help you out." Travis Peterson
